Frequently Asked Questions

What precautions do Learning Hubs take to avoid the spread of COVID-19?

Learning Hubs strictly adhere to infection control guidelines, including mask wearing, social distancing, and cohorting.

If it’s not safe for school to be open, why are Learning Hubs safe?
There are many fewer people in a Learning Hub than in a school, resulting in much lower exposure. Siblings are also cohorted together. Even so, there is always some risk. Do Learning Hubs accommodate students with Special Needs, IEPs and 504 plans?

Yes, we welcome all children who are able to participate in online learning. Special needs are considered on a case by case basis.

Who are the Learning Hub staff?

Learning Hub staff serve as facilitators and provide educational support, but do not deliver instruction. They have experience creating supportive, nurturing environments for children, cleared background checks, and received appropriate training in child development, as well as health and safety protocols. However, instruction is delivered remotely by childrens’ certified New Haven Public Schools teachers and paraeducators.
